Frequently Asked Questions

How can I register / pay for a course?

To register for a course, please complete the Kings registration form for Kings Bournemouth, Kings London or Kings Oxford.

Registrations can only be confirmed when we have received a deposit of £170 (£120 deposit and £50 registration fee) or the full fees. Please note that full fees must be paid if you book less than 4 weeks in advance. Kings accepts payment by Credit Card, Cheque or Bank Transfer. Further information on payment can be found on the Registration Page.

Kings will email, fax or post a course confirmation letter / visa letter and an invoice 2-3 working days after receiving your registration form and payment (this may take a little longer in the summer).

Do I need a visa?

To find out whether you require a visa please visit the UK Visas website and complete the questions. If you do need a visa, the site will give you instructions on how and where to apply.
The following website also has lots of helpful information: UKCOSA

Is insurance included?

Travel insurance is not included in the cost of the course. If required, you can buy insurance from your travel agent or from Kings. Kings offers insurance for £30 per month, which covers medical / travel / cancellation fees.

Can I open a bank account?

For students who will be in the UK for over 6 months it is usually possible to open a UK bank account. Kings Bournemouth also offers an internal bank service for students who have difficulty opening an account.

Can Kings arrange my airport transfer?

Yes! Airport transfers are included on some courses. If an airport transfer is not included, you can still book a transfer. Please see Travel and Transfers for prices and further details. Please remember to send us your flight details at least 7 days in advance.

Will my class be international?

Yes - all of our standard courses are international (except special closed group courses).

What happens on my first day at school?

In the winter, all new students should come to school at 08.45 on Monday morning (or Tuesday morning if Monday is a public holiday). On your first day you will have a language test, a welcome talk and a tour of the school.

In the summer, students at Kings London and Oxford should come to school on Monday morning as above. Students at Kings Bournemouth are usually tested on Sunday morning during July and August (your host family will confirm this) and then have an orientation on Monday.

Will I have an English test when I arrive?

Yes! Your English will be tested upon arrival at the school to ascertain your level. You will also have regular tests throughout your course to measure your progress and move you to a higher level if necessary. Please note that students on some Business English Courses will have a needs analysis instead of a test.

Is the course book included?

We do not expect you to buy course books. All students receive a course book to use during their time at Kings. Depending on the course, you will need to return the course book to your teacher after the lesson or at the end of your course.

Will I get a certificate at the end of my course?

Yes! All students who attend at least 90% of their lessons receive a certificate. Our certificates are linked to the Common European Framework.
